The film describes the plight of women under the 'honor system' in some Muslim socieites. Some of the backlash stems from accusations that the film is 'Islamophobic'. Groups cited as those reportedly trying to cancel the screenings include the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), whose Chicago-based representative Agnieszka Karoluk debated the controversy with human rights attorney Brooke Goldstein.
